Expertise

Manager Key staff Geoarchaeology & Environmental

I joined Wessex Archaeology in 2021 as Environmental Manager. In this role I oversee the paleoenvironmental work and lead the environmental team, including the processing and specialist analysis.

Over the past years I have gained substantial experience in paleoenvironmental processing and analysis. I originally trained as a zooarchaeologist, but later expanded my skillset to include invertebrate- and archaeobotanical analysis. I enjoy using biological proxy data to answer questions about our cultural heritage and the paleoenvironment in which our ancestors lived. My main research interest is utilising subfossil insect assemblages to reconstruct human behaviour and interaction. Particularly pest species will always capture my imagination.

I am driven by improving processes and devising new, innovative ways in which we can deliver paleoenvironmental services.

In my free time I enjoy playing bass guitar, adventures in the countryside, cooking, and a good glass of wine.
