Expertise

Manager Key staff Research Specialist

I have been Finds Manager at Wessex Archaeology since 2014 but originally joined the company in 1987. I am responsible for the teams that work in processing finds for all Wessex Archaeology projects. My other responsibilities include liaison with specialists, museums and other officials such as the DCMS and local Coroners, as well as the public and media about our finds collection.

I am the author of numerous published reports, most notably on pottery of the Late Iron Age and Romano-British periods. These include major works on Black Burnished Ware from Dorset as well as pottery from sites stretching from Kent in the east (Springhead, East Kent Access Roads) to Caerleon in the west. I am also an expert in the analysis of almost all artefact materials, with published reports on the later prehistoric worked bone and stone (Potterne, Wiltshire), the worked stone objects, glass, fired clay, metalwork, ceramic and stone building materials from a wide variety of Romano-British sites, in addition to medieval building materials (Hyde Street, Winchester) and post-medieval glass (Carisbrooke Castle, Isle of Wight).
